This workshop introduces teachers to authentic student self-assessment practices and demonstrates how they can strengthen student learning and ownership. Participants examine the what, why, and how of self-assessment while exploring the distinction between self-assessment and self-grading. The session highlights practical tools, such as student-friendly rubrics, metacognitive strategies, reflection journals, and success criteria, that help students monitor their own progress. By the end, participants will be prepared to incorporate these strategies systematically into their classrooms to build student agency and self-awareness.
