Part 1: Best Practices for Working with Young Children on the Autism Spectrum Who Are Nonspeaking

Participants will explore self-regulation and behavioral strategies, sensory-integration activities, and understand the communicative purposes of behaviors common in young children on the Autism Spectrum, leaving with resources for immediate classroom application.

Since all behavior is a form of communication, it’s critical that teachers understand the various behaviors that are common to young children on the Autism Spectrum and what purpose they might serve. We will explore self-regulation and behavioral strategies as well as sensory-integration activities. Participants will leave with resources that support their immediate application in the classroom.
