Preparing Students for Selected and Constructed Response Questions in Mathematics

Participants will develop a clear understanding of mathematics items that require selected and constructed responses, including their focus on application and fluency, and will gain grade-appropriate activities and resources aligned with specific Standards and mathematical practices to enhance classroom instruction.

Mathematics high stakes tests assess students’ abilities in application and fluency through selected and constructed responses. Each item is designed with a particular Standards and mathematical practice in mind. This workshop reviews the grade-level Standards addressed and provides activities and resources participants can use directly in their classrooms. Materials and activities are tailored to address students’ grade levels.
