Supporting Marginalized Populations and Increasing Female Participation in CTE Classes

Participants will gain strategies to support and empower marginalized populations by addressing academic proficiency, student trauma, and effective study habits, while also fostering gender equity in CTE courses through mentorship, stereotype reduction, female role models, and parent engagement.

This workshop speaks to encouraging and supporting marginalized populations, including females, minorities and black students. Strategies will focus on tutoring and enrichment, addressing issues of proficiency, dealing with student trauma and promoting effective study habits. Next, participants will spend time breaking down the barriers of greater female participation in CTE courses . Strategies will be shared that focus on leveling the gender-equity playing field, creating beneficial mentorship programs, altering negative stereotypes, constructing and reinforcing female role models, and enlisting the support of parents.
