Participants will be able to effectively use the WIDA Can Do Descriptors to create content area-specific activities that support Level 1 and 2 multilingual learners.

In this workshop, content area teachers (social studies, ELA, math and science) will gain practical strategies to support multilingual learners. The session will focus on the effective use of WIDA Can Do Descriptors to modify, adapt, and create engaging activities that meet the diverse linguistic needs of multilingual students, especially Level 1 and 2 students. Participants will explore how to leverage the Can Do Descriptors to design differentiated tasks that encompass four specific communicative purposes: Recount, Explain, Argue, and Discuss.
