Writer’s Workshop: A Guide for Successful Implementation

Participants will learn how to structure teacher-student conferences, choose and use mentor texts as well as design mini-lessons, to successfully implement the writer’s workshop in their classrooms.

This workshop provides educators with a comprehensive framework for implementing an effective Writer’s Workshop in their classrooms. Participants learn how to structure daily writing instruction through mini-lessons, independent writing, conferencing, and sharing to foster student authorship. The training emphasizes the use of mentor texts, standards alignment, and differentiated support to meet diverse student needs. Strategies for classroom setup, management, and troubleshooting are also addressed, ensuring teachers leave with practical tools to create a supportive writing community.
