Preparing Students for Research Simulation Tasks

Participants will learn how to construct and implement research simulation tasks in their classrooms, gaining strategies and resources to help students effectively analyze, synthesize, and respond to multiple informational texts and multimedia at developmentally appropriate levels.

The task of analyzing and synthesizing multiple pieces of informational text and multimedia to construct a comprehensive piece of literature can be challenging for students. This workshop provides a framework that instructors can employ to assure students’ success on this task. Instructors will learn how to construct research simulation tasks in their classrooms and will receive numerous resources that they can use throughout the school year. Workshop materials and activities will be selected to address students’ developmental levels.
